Batik is not only rich in philosophy. Batik is also rich in mathematical calculations. It was conducted by Indonesian nation ancestors left traces of fractal mathematics on Indonesian batik cloth.

M Lukman, Yuri Haryadi ITB alumni, and Nancy Margried Padjadjaran University alumnus makes Pixel People Project to conduct the research. What is a fractal? Fractal is a branch of mathematics that studies looping technique. Batik Fractal Pixel Project is a pilot project that was succes.

Nancy reveals the emergence of batik fractal idea when he was with Yun and Luki (Lukman) discuss the unique object to be used as design. Luki is a unique designer happy drawing objects. He often drew robots or comic character with the theory of fractal mathematics. At one time Nancy requested that Luki drawing more organic objects such as plants. Luki picture depicts organic, which then looks like a batik.

Yun mathematicians agreed to examine the possibility of batiks in Indonesia has elements of mathematics. From there, they began to collect various batik motifs to be analyzed from the point of view of mathematics. A total of 300 motif analyzed. They also consult with Achmad Haldani famous as the traditional batik expert. With the mathematical formula fractal traditional batiks can be developed and modified. They then call it a modified batik motif batik fractal.
