Development of the batik industry in fact affect the preservation of nature. The higher demand for batik clothing, the more the use of candles, chemicals and bleach which can damage the environment. Understanding this condition, Indonesian-German Economic Association (EKONID) make a program Clean Batik Initiative (CBI), namely to increase the fashion industry but care environment. The program is to educate the community to love batik and environment, also changing the way the work of the craftsmen who previously used chemicals toward more environmentally friendly process.
Looking for Eco Batik market is also a challenge for EKONID, they also took some famous designer batik Indonesia to introduce this to the community. The designers are Musa Widyatmodjo, Carmanita, Lenny Agustin, Caterina Hapsari and Batik Fractal. Every piece of batik is used in Ecobatik Signature Collection is made by certified batik artisans from various regions in the country. Uniquely, this collection is claimed not only environmentally friendly natural dyes from plantations that have been used to seeing, but rather than waste.
